Thriller is a diverse genre of movie, and it can be challenging to navigate through its many subgenres.

As the "shock factor" is essential in most of these movies, it can be difficult to learn about them without getting spoilers.

But this should not stop anyone from watching these iconic movies! Taking a leap of faith and watching some of these films can significantly reward our time and leave us entertained.

So, here are my top 5 picks for someone who wants to watch thriller movies.

1. Shutter Island

Leonardo DiCaprio as Teddy Daniels

Two US Marshals, Teddy Daniels (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Chuck Aule (Mark Ruffalo), are sent to investigate the disappearance of a patient at an asylum on a remote island. While there, Teddy uncovers a shocking truth.

“You know, this place makes me wonder… which would be worse, to live as a monster or to die as a good man?”

2. Gone Girl

Nicholas Dunne beside his wife's missing poster

Nicholas Dunne's (Ben Affleck) wife, Amy Dunne (Rosamund Pike), goes missing. In this commotion, Nicholas Dunne finds himself at the center of media attention and a prime suspect.

“I've killed for you, who else can say that?”

3. Zodiac

The Zodiac Killer and Zodiac movie's poster

The movie Zodiac is about an extremely famous serial killer in the US who was never caught. The true identity of the Zodiac killer is still a mystery today.

“I'm not the zodiac, and if I was I'd certainly not tell you.”

4. Goodnight mommy

Mommy

Twin boys grow suspicious of their mom after she had a surgery and doesn't show them her face. So they try to uncover the truth themselves.

“We were smart and we decided to split into two. That way, we’d never have to be alone again.”

5. Marrowbone

The four siblings

Four siblings stay in a secluded house which has a dangerous inhabitant.

The twist in this movie was excellent, I couldn't have guessed anything.

“We left him to die you don't think that his ghost wouldn't come back and haunt us?”

Watching thriller movies in the comfort of my home is one of the best feelings I have ever experienced. Some of these movies left me confused and horrified. If that’s your thing, do tell me what your favourite one was!
